Higbee T&F back at it @ CMU! Shout out to the birthday girl Kiersten Rockett for shattering the school record in the 300m Hurdles with a new PR of 56.00 seconds!!! Ronnie Welch and Aaron Welch took home bronze medals. Ronnie in the High Jump and Aaron in the 200. With multiple top 5 finishes tonight we capped the week off well! The Boys 4x800 (Celton Crawford, Aaron Welch, Brayson Harlan, Danny Janssen) clocked another good time with an all out sprint finish to secure 5th place. The Girls 4x100 (Joey Westfall, Natalie Ritter, Kiersten Rockett, Raegen Derboven) ran a season's best 57.22 to also place 5th. The Boys 4x100 (Cale Nelson, Xavier Gabing, Aiden Freidin, Gavin Snell) placed 7th. Danny Janssen is inching closer to our 300m hurdles school record with a 4th place finish in 46.75. A handful of our athletes are setting times and marks in the top 15 in all of Class 1 T&F. Consistency is the key to our success and our athletes are ready to dive into the bulk of our training. It was great to see Jaelyn Jennings compete in her first meet! Along with other throwers hitting their marks today. We're back in action Tuesday April 8th @ Cairo. Come out to support! 🐅Go Tigers! 🐅

Higbee Track and Field @ North Callaway Great showing at a big meet of 17 schools! It was great to see our Senior girls Raegan Derboven and Maddie Seidel debut their first meet of the season in stride! Raegan Derboven is returning as a multiple event state qualifier and she picked right back up where she left off. She clocked a 13.91 in the 100 and a 28.59 in the 200 to place 6th. Kiersten, Ronnie, Joey, Raegan rocked a 4x400 for the first time! Maddie Seidel is returning as our school record holder in the javelin and she's looking to smash that record this year! The Boys 4x800 (Celton Crawford, Aaron Welch, Brayson Harlan, Danny Janssen) had great competition and they lowered their school record to a 9:44 to place 5th. Ronnie Welch placed 2nd in high jump in a very deep field! Our discus/shotput throwers (Shayanna, Ayla, Jayla, Xavier, Jedidiah) had great marks. Kiersten Rockett and Danny Janssen are both now ranked high in the state in the 300 m hurdles and looking to break our school records! Celton Crawford became the first athlete to ever compete in pole vault at Higbee! Great day to be a Higbee Tiger! 🐅

Higbee Track and Field @ New Bloomfield Last night was the very first meet held at their brand new facility! Both sides competed well bringing home 8 marks that placed to score points! Women's Placed Marks: Ronnie Welch won the Women's High Jump with a 5-01.75 foot clearance! She was flying high and there's more to come! Kiersten Rockett is proving her consistency in arguably the toughest event in track and field with back to back places in the 300 meter hurdles. Both Ronnie and Kiersten scored points in the Triple Jump with Ronnie jumping 30-2.75 ft. & Rockett hitting 29-04.75 ft. Ayla Griffin, Jayla Schaedel, Shayanna DeWeese took on the throws! Jayla and Shayanna cooked up some quick 100 meter clockings. These ladies logged a number of new personal bests! Men's Placed Marks: We competed well in the field events with Danny Janssen placing 3rd in the Triple Jump with a mark of 38-4.0 ft. We saw numerous personal bests from our long jumpers Celton Crawford (16-00.50 ft), Brayson Harlan (14-03.25 ft), and Gavin Snell (14-02.50 ft). In Javelin our boys Jedidiah Williams and Cale Nelson threw within 1 hundredth of a meter of each with Williams taking the edge! Nelson had a good showing by competing in Javelin, 110 hurdles, 4x100, and the 200 in his first meet. Aaron cleared 5-05.75 ft in high jump to place 10th. He brought home a seasons best in the 200 meter dash in 25.09 to place 7th. Our throwers Xavier Gabing, Jedidiah Williams, and Aiden Frieden all pressed out some solid marks. In the running events we led the meet off with our 4x800 (Celton, Aaron, Brayson, Danny) placing 6th in a deep field. Danny Janssen placed 2nd in the 1600 meter in a tactical race that led to an all out sprint finish. We saw a couple personal bests in the sprints with Brayson leading the team to a 63 in the 400, Friedin and Nelson running neck and neck in the 200, and Crawford clocking a 53 in the 300 hurdles. We have meets next Tuesday at North Calloway and next Thursday at CMU. 🐅 Go Tigers! 🐅
